Great fun last night at the regional reception for Class XXXV of Leadership Alabama. I’m so honored to have been selected as part of this group of leaders from around our great state. Brian and I finished the evening by celebrating with dinner at Char.

Great time catching up with Chris Newlin at the National Children's Advocacy Center. Our collective work on the mental health of children & families has many intersections. Grateful for their leadership at the local, state, national, & international level. They’re amazing!

What a great Saturday evening Brian & I had hosting our family & friends. The Weekend House was packed - there were so many around the pool, I’m amazed no one took an unintentional swim. God has given me far better than what I prayed for. #ImmeasurablyBlessed

What makes the start of a week extra special? When a precious baby from a previous adoption shows up as part of the support group for another family AND insists on a photo! Forgive the poor grammar, but ain’t nothing better. 💜

It’s been a full weekend. Did a significant amount of work on the house & for several organizations where I serve on a board or committee. Brian knew I was tired & made comfort food for dinner. Meat loaf, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, & cornbread. Almost as good as my Mom’s.

How’s your Saturday? We’re freshening up flowers & ferns on porches, back terrace, & around the pool for Fall. 50 small containers of various sizes. What were we thinking? All of a sudden it feels like July again outside.

My heart is heavy. There would be no higher honor for those that perished on 9/11 than a return to the unprecedented unity, respectful discourse, & exceptional patriotism our country experienced in the aftermath of that horrible day. We must work harder than ever to get there. 🇺🇸

I was blessed with amazing maternal & paternal grandmothers. Today Mama Dalton would have turned 115. She had my Mom at 42 - a bit of a surprise. As her youngest grandchildren, I had an opportunity to spend a great deal of time with her. She made an indelible mark on my life.

Labor Day is an annual tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our great country. We will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of the holiday. We will reopen to serve you at 8:30am on Tuesday, September 2.

My faith is extremely important - it centers and grounds me. I’m continually overwhelmed at the grace & mercy God provides all of us. This is something to consider as we begin the week. Let’s focus on “washing feet” in a way that loves, encourages, & refreshes those around us.

Sometimes I’m asked, “What does your team do?” My response, “Whatever it takes!” Today was no exception. I’m at our home in Orange Beach, but this adoption had to move forward. What a privilege to make it happen. God bless Malachi and his beautiful family. This is what matters!
