This morning, I participated in two community cleanups with the Franklintown Community Association and members of Morning Star Baptist Church in Windsor Mill. We know that every piece of trash we pick up helps protect our waterways and neighborhoods.

The flooded walkway area in Sudbrook Park has been repaired. Thanks to @BaltCoRec and the community for working with my office to get this fixed. Now, folks can enjoy leisurely walks and other activities without having to worry about wet, swampy and marshy conditions.

On Monday, the Baltimore County Council passed legislation I sponsored that provides for automatic review by the Council of a proposed recommended historic landmark. In short, this bill will help prevent the demolition of Baltimore County history.

The 6.7 megawatt, 15,000-panel solar array is set to begin operating Nov. 30. It’s expected to generate 8.2 million kilowatt hours per year — enough to power 1,500 homes — and account for 11% of the county government’s annual electricity consumption.

Transforming landfills into solar farms utilizes vacant land, generates clean energy, provides cost savings and can prevent pollutant release. This strategy avoids competition with productive farmland, reduces urban sprawl and allows agriculture to continue on its existing land.

It forced me to see things clearly. I’m a proud Jew. I believe in our right to safety, to self-determination and to a homeland. And I pray for peace.

When people see my tattoo visibly displayed, they often tell me it’s brave. I don’t think it’s brave. It’s a permanent and lasting reminder of who I am. Before Oct. 7, I kept my Jewishness quiet for the most part. But that day profoundly changed me and many others.

On Sept. 1, 2023, I got my first tattoo — a Star of David — on my left arm. I didn’t know it then, but just 36 days later, on Oct. 7, the world would witness the largest massacre of Jews since World War II.

As we approach the second anniversary of October 7th, we remember the lives lost, families separated and hostages taken in a devastating act of terrorism. We pray for the hostages to soon be reunited with their families — and pray for a future of security and lasting peace.

Stunning fall afternoon for a community concert in the Huntington neighborhood! The John Lamkin II & Favorites Jazz Quintet knocked it out of the park. Every community deserves more opportunities to get together, build connections and enjoy the arts.
