Although the presiding judge read the verdict wrong at first, Alton Oliver was found not guilty in the 2022 fatal shooting of off-duty Fulton Co. Deputy James Thomas. Both the DA's Office and Sheriff Labat said they respected the jury's verdict.@ajc

The DeKalb County Police Officer killed on Friday has been identified as 33-year-old David Rose. He had joined the department in September 2024. @ajc

The shooter was identified by the GBI as Patrick Joseph White, of Kennesaw. He was found dead in a CVS across the street from the CDC.
