Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock tells Sky News his party should take "a step in the direction of equity and fairness". He says the government should consider tax rises on wealth and assets. The theme of fairness - in an echo Starmer's video below - comes up again.
I noticed he said fairness was at the heart of his government’s purpose in his interview with the BBC’s Political Thinking. Is this the beginnings of an attempt to tell a more compelling political story about his premiership?. A frequent criticism is he doesn’t have one.

Back in May, Duncan-Jordan was the organiser of a rebel letter that said the welfare reforms were "impossible to support" without a "change of direction". That letter was signed by 42 MPs - a sizable chunk of the rebel contingent prior to these concessions.
These proposals will still force disabled people into poverty. I oppose a two-tier approach where the support you get depends on when you applied - not on need. There’s a fairer, more Labour way. Let's ask wealthy corporations and individuals to pay - not the disabled.

NEW: While Reform UK's rise was the big story of the local elections, almost half of the councils up for grabs were not won outright by any single party. Many newbie Reform councillors are navigating hung councils. I found out how they’re getting on 👇.

Breaking: Zia Yusuf resigns as Reform UK chairman.
11 months ago I became Chairman of Reform. I’ve worked full time as a volunteer to take the party from 14 to 30%, quadrupled its membership and delivered historic electoral results. I no longer believe working to get a Reform government elected is a good use of my time, and.
