It's still incredible to me that this place is real. The aura hits me like a Simon Stalenhag dream capture. It somehow conveys silence, isolation, and human ambition better than words ever could. [RT-64 Radio Telescope, Kalyazin Observatory]

It's crazy to me that Microsoft’s mobile app email authentication is case-sensitive, despite email addresses not being case-sensitive. It is especially frustrating because the app automatically capitalizes the first letter for you, causing it to fail.

When I was a kid, gaming brought people together. We had LAN parties, split-screen Halo nights, WoW groups. Now it’s intentionally designed to separate and isolate players. I worry the next generation will grow up without real human connection.

I pointed one of my astronomy lenses at a storm and ended up with this: lightning and star trails. The fury of nature photobombing the majesty of the universe.

Myself and many others have experienced this exact scenario throughout our careers, if we were lucky enough to ever have one at all. We are not out of the woods yet.

Beginning in 2014, prestige industries decided they urgently needed to diversify. They didn’t purge established Boomers. Instead, they did everything possible to avoid hiring white millennial men. This is the story of a generation derailed by DEI. https://t.co/kUfmpHfaMH

The great irony of adding abstracted layers to solve problems in simpler ways is the future cost. You’re trading ease of leverage for a substantial increase in complexity and bloat. All of tech has kicked the can down the road, and now we’re reaping what we sow.

We need to kill the idea that most people should go to university. It's a well-intended holdover from previous generations but it's no longer valid. The cost/benefit math has simply changed too much. Perhaps ~10% of people should go to university. And only for certain degrees.

Fun fact. The Learned Helplessness Experiment was a part of most High Schools in the 1980s. It is no longer taught on any scale.

People always talk about how LLMs are eating into the market for junior developers, but this is the first time I have seen an LLM do the work of a principal engineer

I told Claude to one-shot an integration test against a detailed spec I provided. It went silet for about 30 minutes. I asked how it was going twice and it reassured me it was doing work. Then I asked why it was taking so long:

The change on X to show origin/location was a smart move, especially since it applies retroactively. This will help people weed out bots and those astroturfing.

My hot take is that you are not entitled to your parents' money. Rich or poor, you come into this world naked, with nothing. Through education, hard work, circumstance, and perhaps some luck, we must carve our own path, unentitled.
