The Metropolitan Police Department mourns the loss of West Virginia National Guard Spec. Sarah Beckstrom. We send our deepest condolences to Spec. Beckstrom’s loved ones and fellow guardsmen. Our detectives and our partners continue to investigate Wednesday’s horrific shooting.
We are saddened to confirm the death of Army National Guard Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, of Summersville, West Virginia. Spc. Beckstrom died Nov. 27 as a result of a gunshot wound. She was one of the two West Virginia National Guardsmen who were shot near the Farragut Square Metro.
