The curse of the type facsimile strikes again! This is NOT a C17th century book. Anyone who knows anything about typefaces will tell you that’s a late C18th Caslon. I would wager this was printed c. 1820 not 1678.
The earliest known depiction of a crop circle is in The Mowing-Devil (1678), a 5-page pamphlet which recounts a labor dispute ending with an unwitting deal with the devil, and a field mown in way “that no Mortal Man was able to do the like”: #cropcircles
