Popped to the pharmacy to give the ladies a box of chocolates.
I used to pick Dad's tablets up and apologise for the long phone calls where he'd put in an order and then run through his whole day with them.
They told me they used to fight for the phone when they knew it was him

Dad's carers are so lovely but so young too.
One lad who's been every day was staring at my artwork that's in his hall: "Are these family members?"
He was looking at Freddie Mercury, Amy Winehouse & Norman Wisdom.

Dad finally gave in a few hours ago and drifted away in his sleep.
He always had will power, inner strength and a zest for life but in the end he couldn't carry on any longer.
Thank you for investing so much in the last few chapters of his life.

His homecoming is delayed by a couple of days because they want to switch off his pacemaker first so when his heart finally fails, it won't kick in and he can slip away painlessly and naturally.

Dad's carers were later than usual this morning.
Their previous client is very confused and they arrived to mess everywhere.
And I can't imagine what else they see and deal with. They just smile, care, treat everyone with respect and move on.

Just had the go-ahead to have Dad's ashes interred in the churchyard of the village where he was born and raised, and where I also grew up.
I'm just going to have his name, dates and "Home Again" inscribed on it.

Yesterday I accepted an offer for Dad's flat. This makes me 90% happy and 10% sad
It's losing that last physical evidence of someone who spent 54 years in my life.

I asked for donations to the NSPCC instead of flowers for Dad's funeral and I've just had a letter saying nearly £800 was given.
My Mum did a lot of work with this charity so it's always been close to my heart.

Bumped into Clipboard Alan when I was at Dad's earlier.
I invited him in and asked him to take something as a memento for being such a good neighbour.
He chose the wall clock and said "He was a good old boy, I'll miss him."
