Apocalypse in the Tropics by @petracostal is an amazing follow-up to her oscar nominated documentary, The Edge of Democracy. The ability, and will, to criticize one's own nation right up to its highest forms of leadership is a brave endeavour. She did it with aplomb.

The Final Chamber Tour with @WuTangClan was awesome. They put on a SHOW! So many highlights, and having @runjewels as the opener made it even better. Since 92 the WU has been inspiring me as a storyteller, and without them, I would not be the writer I am today.

I've been inspired by many incredible storytellers over the years, and while many are in the literary world, many are also in the hiphop world, and @Nas is at the top of the list in my opinion. Seeing him perform Illmatic with the Montreal symphony orchestra was unfogettable.

Can't say enough about the impact @therulernyc had on me not just as a writer, but as a storyteller. Been a fan of the ruler since I've been a fan of the art he ruled, and to see him still doing it the way only he can is a gift.

"The Cost of Freedom: Refugee Journalists in Canada": is an excellent documentary directed by @JamesCullingham about 3 journalists: @Najera13 from Mexico, Arzu Yildiz from Turkey, and AbdulRahman Matar from Syria, who had to flee their countries and come to Canada as refugees.

The final film I watched at the @HotDocs festival here in Toronto was, "Si Vas Para Chile" ("Unwelcomed" in English). It was an amazing film about thousands of Venezuelan migrants fleeing from the grim realities of life in their home country and coming to the north of Chile.

I just saw the documentary, "The Longer You Bleed", at @HotDocs directed by Ewan Waddell. Set against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, this film was a powerful exploration about the connection between algorithm and violence, social media and war. It's a great film.

I got to see the documentary, "Coexistence, My Ass" at the Toronto Hot Docs festival & it was incredible. Directed by Amber Fares, it follows activist/comedian @ShusterNoam who boldly speaks on the realities of the Israeli occupation of Palestine. I hope it gets wide distribution

RIP to @BishopBrigante. Scarborough through and through. Everybody who saw him on 106 & Park knows that he didn't cuss, and his disqualification was BS. Seeing a guy from the same place I grew up make it as far as he did in hiphop meant a lot.

The public library has been an important part of my life since I was a teenager. So to find out I'm being paid for having my book, After The Flames, published by @dundurnpress, in libraries throughout Canada, means a lot. I'm very grateful to the @CanadaCouncil for the support.

I had a great time presenting my book, After The Flames, published by @dundurnpress , yesterday at the Brentwood branch of the @torontolibrary. The audience was great, as was the presenter, the wonderful Debra Kelly, who has been helping writers in Toronto for over 30 years.
