Labour MP for Rugby & the villages | I don’t respond to cases via social media | Please email me or call my office for an appointment
Joined December 2009
In my first year as your MP, I’ve made 190 parliamentary contributions, helped nearly 5,000 casework issues with an 89% resolution rate, secured vital local funding, and fought hard for Rugby’s future. Your trust drives my mission. #ParliamentWrapped

I welcome the PM's statement on Gaza. Israel must end the crisis with a ceasefire and commit to a Two State Solution. Immediate humanitarian aid is vital - 500 trucks daily, not a trickle. I've consistently called for this in Parliament. The suffering must end.
My statement on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and our plan for peace including the recognition of a Palestinian State.

The Israeli Security Cabinet's plans and aid blockade are unacceptable and unconscionable. The UK and international community must not tolerate this. We should consider all options, including military aid drops, to deliver urgent humanitarian assistance. #Gaza

Back in May I called on the government to consider all practical solutions to get aid through to Gaza, including military aid drops. I’m pleased to see reports that the government is now considering joining this vital humanitarian effort. 👉

His comments come as he faces calls from 221 cross-party MPs for the UK to recognise a Palestinian state.

Glad to see Warwickshire World feature my @bbc5live interview on boosting creative arts and culture. Culture enriches society, supports mental and physical health, and drives local economies - just like sport, it builds vital skills for young people. 👉

Rugby's MP appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live yesterday (Thursday) to discuss his idea to boost creative arts and culture - and managed to give our town a good plug too!

Granting 16- and 17-year-olds the vote is a vital step to empower young voices and refresh our democracy. With 1.6 million new voters, it's time to listen, engage, and let young people shape the future they'll inherit. Read my latest piece.🔗 . #VotesAt16.

Hi @campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK @RoryStewartUK do you think broadcast media should have creative arts bulletins as they do sports bulletins? I discussed on @bbc5live @MattChorley programme yesterday

Matt Chorley with political guests, news, and your views on the issues that matter to you.
Proud to have made the case on @bbc5live for regular creative arts bulletins alongside sports. The arts boost our economy, mental health, and community spirit - from Glastonbury to local venues. Culture deserves equal airtime, and BBC Radio 5 is bringing it back for this show!

Tune in today at 2 PM - I'll be on @bbc5live discussing why creative arts deserve equal airtime to sports on national broadcasters. While we get hourly sports bulletins, the arts sector - equally vital - gets virtually no coverage. Time to shake up the status quo?

Great to meet Minister @simonlightwood and colleagues at the parliamentary reception with bus companies and CPT. We discussed how the Bus Services Bill will empower local councils to improve bus services for communities. Also met Stagecoach on their new electric fleet launch.

I support @MattWestern_'s urgent call to action against online racism and misogyny directed at Jess Carter. These companies must act now to address this unacceptable behaviour.
In just 3 HOURS, 91 MPs have joined my call on the major social media companies to take serious action to combat the appalling racism and misogyny directed at Jess Carter that they have allowed to be espoused on their platforms. They need to act. Here is our call on them to do so

Well said @wesstreeting
These attacks on @WHO are intolerable and are further crippling the health response in Gaza. Medics working in conditions that could scarcely be imagined in our worst nightmares must not be targets. Israel must comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law.
