Thrilled to share this news! Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Amos Family Foundation, Asbury is launching a PhD in Theology program. Start date of fall of 2027. More details to come.
We are honored to receive a $15M gift from the Paul S. & Jean R. Amos Family Foundation to launch a new Ph.D. in Theology and establish an endowed chair. This transformative gift will shape future scholars for the Church, the academy, and beyond. Link: https://t.co/d8AyqrJDy6

Also, shout out to the TOC for setting me up with some grade 1 arable land for aura farming. Got a plot right next to the best to ever do it.

Happy to see this out in the wild. If you’re interested in Aquinas’s account of divine freedom and metaphysics of modality, take a look! https://t.co/aQEAS7oXgD

The division in education is going to be between those who see cognitive offloading in AI as licit and those who rightly see it as a fundamental betrayal of the ends of education.
Yes! It also leads students to think that the purpose of writing a paper is *only* to digest content and demonstrate that you’ve done so. It ignores the fact that a key part of thinking and knowing is being able to discern and articulate form and structure of said thinking.

It’s true. I moved traditions while a teenager and I’m sure that my departure didn’t fully exhibit these virtues. But I’ve seen it done by others—even some friends and professional theologians!—and it’s entirely possible.
All right, I will say one more thing. There are ways of moving from church tradition to tradition calculated to engender sympathy, understanding, mutual forbearance, and gratitude. And there are those that are not.

@Tor_Barstad @PhilipDBunn If I were a shrimp I would want nothing more than to fulfil my telos in both life and death. I would wish to be gently cooked and laid atop a funerary bed of cheesy grits. so i would pass this life with honor and win the respect of my ancestors.

This was a lot of fun; was the first of quarterly conversations with us three and Joshua Lee Harris (at Kings U in Edmonton).
Enjoyed talking with @JLSteffaniak and @JoelChopp about the Colloquy of Regensburg https://t.co/Aly1p3aRbN

Arrived in Iznik yesterday, where—1700 years ago that day—the first council of Nicaea was convened. Delighted to be here with a wonderful group of Wesleyan scholars.

Had the privilege of sitting down with Doug & Mickey to chat about coming on board with Pro Ecclesia. We talked about the history of the journal, some of what's in the pipeline now, and where we hope to see it going. Have a listen! https://t.co/0azBUDAeg0
Episode 3 of That They May All Be One is out! Listen to Mickey Mattox and Joel Chopp discuss the significance of the Pro Ecclesia Journal and their work as its newly appointed Editor and Managing Editor. https://t.co/B4Uu2Cisii

“The humanities classroom must be a place where these tools for offloading the task of genuine expression are forbidden—stronger, where their use is shunned, seen as a faux pas of the deeply different norms of a deeply different space.”
New online, @freganmitts on what happens—and doesn’t happen—in the university committees tasked with “responding” to AI: https://t.co/Ii8A6BuoNB
