Leading Production Music composer since the 80s. Film/tv/VGM FairlightCMI sampling pioneer, improvising concert-pianist, organist, Dad. You’ve heard my music!

My daughter intimidated by a bloke in a late night train day before yesterday! She sought out the guard, I hope you are ok! The prevalence of this sort of thing is just awful!
Fascinating that upcoming

Well, I’ve dedicated a lifetime to making music, but experience on this platform has shown me conclusively: the way to minimise engagement is to post up some of my music!😂🤦♂️🤷🎼
I have had the great good fortune to spend a lifetime composing and recording more music in more different genres and styles, and for more different line ups of instruments & tech than you can probably imagine😉 I’m here to help young composers/musicians if I can👍🎼
I’ve spent a lifetime

No apologies for our extended celebrations…how often in life do you get to enjoy a 40th wedding anniversary?😉🙏My wife doesn’t like photos of her, but she is still the loveliest thing I have ever seen.❤️
I’ve given 100’s of recitals to considerable acclaim, I have over 2 billion streams on YouTube, but when I write to music promoters etc. I rarely ever get a reply! What on earth must it be like for new artists, & what has happened to the music biz? Just an acknowledgment plz?🤷🎼
After a hard physical day in the garden ( literally shovelling a ton of gravel), just wonderful to unwind for an hour or two with this beautiful instrument…the aches & pains & tension just melt away!🙏🎹
I started dating Anne when I was 17. As we’re out tonight celebrating our 39th wedding

A little clip of a masterclass
#improvising
on ‘Lullaby of Birdland’…before too many comments about my scrappy playing, this is not a concert/recital as such, I’m demonstrating improv techniques such as playing with metre and style & transposition.
Organs, drumming, composing, computers, synths, arranging, producing…, but my first love,

improvisation has remained the mainstay of my music life for 60yrs! 🙏🎹❤️ ( demo/masterclass not a recital!).
#WorldPianoDay
I walk & compose music here nearly every day. It’s like paradise. I wish it could be like this for everyone. What have we done to this amazing, beautiful world?🤷
Handel has been a significant influence! Here, nearly 40 years ago, I used a short phrase from one of his operas to generate the very first TV theme ever produced entirely on digital computer!🙏🎼
Love to see you tomorrow afternoon, the historic 'Handel' organ of Holt Trinity Church, Gosport. In all it's 300 years, I doubt it has ever been played like this! (Noodling to get used to instrument!)🙏🎹
With well over 100,000,000 performances of these two tracks alone, I’m delighted to have far exceeded 2 billion

worldwide recently. If only it actually added up to a decent income! Streaming should pay its creatives a sensible amount!
For those of you working hard or even struggling in the arts, I worked as a pro in the music biz for over a decade before getting my first really big break! Keep at it, you never know! 👍🙏🎼

This is sadly typical. I usually get round by doing a paid concert/performance/masterclasses as well as a talk. But past experience: do something as a favour you are treated like dirt, charge a big fee and you become the VIP!!🎼
My career has yielded so many delights. I just got this delightful watercolour sent to me in the post this morning, from a gig last month! Love it!🙏🙏🎹🎼
If Twitter folds, just to say apart from the odd troll/weirdo, it has been a lot of fun, highly entertaining, a great many laughs and a wonderful way of discovering new music and brilliant artists. I wish you all the great joy I have had from a lifetime in music. Thank you!🙏🎼
I’m an ‘organ nut’,no apologies! These instruments & their mechanisms have underpinned much of my understanding of the world for over 50 yrs. Physics, mechanics, sound & acoustics, electronics. But also emotional response to music, & for want of a better word, ‘spirituality’!🙏
Now I’m getting old & my fingers have a touch of arthritis after 60yrs of playing, I usually warm up gently for practise sessions with a few arpeggios. Keep warm, good night!🙏👍🎹

A little clip of me talking about accompanying silent films. No other living person on the planet learnt the art from original masters, and continues the practice, as well as composing & recording current tv & film music! It’d be great to see you this coming Wednesday.🙏🎞️
Had a few visits of people wanting to film me at work in my studio…you’ll have to wait!😉In the meantime, the only bit of

footage… not really work, just fun finger exercise noodling!🙏🎹

Why are so relatively few modern living ‘

seemingly so reticent to incorporate electronic

I used to think being a poor, white working-class lad from a single parent family was my biggest problem! True, it has created such an impossible hurdle in music. But I now realise it’s my super-power! When you’ve had nothing, you truly appreciate everything!🙏🙏🎼
Please send your best wishes for the wedding of my eldest son & his lovely bride tomorrow, they are a wonderful couple! Really looking forward to the Chinese tea ceremony!!👍🙏

A musician from a poor background has to be resourceful. Before

success, I designed & built music-tech gear & sold it. I gigged with my own stuff but rarely recorded. The lead on this 1987 track: Yamaha

I don’t have much ‘non-copyright’ vid of her dancing on my phone & I know I have posted this before, but here the ‘Spanish Princess’ from Swan Lake. What a dancer & absolute joy of a daughter she is!😍🩰👏❤️🎼🙏
A slightly belated (we went out for dinner/theatre last night), Happy Birthday to my amazing daughter yesterday!! Here pictured after her incredibly emotional last performance lead role as Odille/Odette in Swan Lake in Estonia.😍🙏🩰🥳
Glad to be back in the warm after cold & wet dog walk in the dark. Time for some ‘Tea for Two’ 😉🫖☕️! Live improvisation/demonstration at Coventry Uni.🙏🎹
Actually knocking together my first demo ( midi/sample tracks to be replaced by live instruments) for next album on my new home studio system! Mac Studio M2 Ultra, 192GB, 8TB. All seems to be working so far!!🤞
Despite the countless times I’ve done this before, finishing off an album is an intensely emotional time for me! I guess it’s the last moments spent with your ‘creative babies’ before they are sent off out into that big, scary world!🎼🙏
I’m so proud of my youngest son: After long days work ( 10pm yesterday) grabs a quick bite of pizza & straight out to the thankless task of trying to represent some of the less well-off in our community! (A Labour councillor in a traditionally staunchly Tory area) well done!👏👏
With the 40th wedding anniversary to my wonderful wife Anne coming up this weekend, I am reminded of the music I wrote for her when we were both eighteen.❤️
Thanks to all who responded to this!🙏If you do love music, please don’t forget there are many LIVING creators who really need your support! Just a like/retweet/kind comment can really make a musician’s day! Enjoy your music-making/listening!👍🙏🎼
Sitting improvising/noodling here, within a few seconds, something totally unique happens. No one in the history of the world has ever played the exact same sequence/rhythm of notes! Nor will they ever be heard again..Unless I use them in a composition! 🤯🙏🎹

Charlie Parker’s ‘Donna Lee’ infiltrating George Shearing’s classic ‘Lullaby of Birdland’!😂🎹
#piano
What age were you when you started playing? I started playing piano at four, and then organ & drums around eight. So celebrating 60 yrs of piano playing this year!🙏🎹
Now all the ‘hard work’ composing for my latest album is done, out walking the dogs & in the garden, time to have fun ‘realising’ it, arranging, engaging appropriate musicians, & using all this lovely tech! Best job in the world!🙏🙏🎼
