Fact of the Day: Manlius falsely reports that Dr. Eck allegedly offered to convert to the Reformers for money in 1530, which is evidently not true, if we look at Dr. Ecks convictions and his life work.

Fact of the day: In the Augsburg Dialogues in 1530, one of the main issues was Priestly celibate. On this point, Dr. Eck and Melanchthon started insulting each others priests and accusing them of misconduct.

I finished reading Wiedemanns Monographie on Dr. Eck today. Conclusion: Wow! Dr. Eck was the G. Fr that man is one of the most impressive people ever and I’m officially his biggest fan now. I want to read everything ever from him. Next will be Grevings Examination of Dr. Eck

This should be a basic take. There are many great Lutherans, but Luther was definitely not one of them.
Martin Luther was an objectively bad guy and he shouldn’t be respected or put on a pedestal. He should be a cautionary tale.
