Prayers of joy today as Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati are canonized by Pope Leo. Acutis, who attended a Jesuit high school in Milan, becomes the first “millennial” saint. Frassati also attended a Jesuit school and is known for his quiet charity toward the poor.

This summer, Fairfield Prep welcomed students from Covenant School and Brooklyn Jesuit Prep to campus. Covenant students explored STEM projects, marine biology, and athletics, while BJP students engaged in academics, athletics, and community-building.

In response to area layoffs, Holy Trinity in Wash., DC, launched “Strategies for Survival and Finding Work after Job Loss,” a support group led by parishioner Dr. Marie Raber. Participants gather in prayer, rebuild self-esteem, and make steps to new jobs.

This past February, the Boston College Board of Trustees elected Fr. John “Jack” Butler, SJ, as the University’s 26th president. He will assume the position next summer, succeeding Fr. William Leahy, SJ, who will step down after three decades of service.

Let us pray in thanksgiving for the life of Fr. James F. Salmon, SJ, who died on August 17, 2025, at the age of 100. A Jesuit for 75 years, Fr. Salmon brought together his love of teaching, science, and leadership in Jesuit education. May he rest in peace.

Let us pray in thanksgiving for the life of Fr. Raymond M. Sweitzer, SJ, who died on August 16, 2025, at 78. Fr. Sweitzer spent nearly his entire vocation teaching languages at Jesuit high schools, especially at Fordham Prep. May he rest in peace.
