How about small-town 90s and getting in a fight with my sister on the school bus and Mom knew about it by the time we got home 😬
We are now getting our kids’ grades sent directly to our phones after every assignment/test and woo boy am I happy that I grew up in the 90s with very limited internet

Homeschool today looks like giving 7yo spelling words while I fry bacon for dinner because the boys spent all morning in the backyard 🤷♀️ And yes, all the school got done. Just waaaay out of order.

Boys are making more rules for their future kids: They’ll let them buy candy even when they’re misbehaving (13 pieces!). They can have ice cream after breakfast. And for dinner. And in the middle of the night. They can stay up all night. 😱😱😱

I said “vegetable soup” when talking about “beef vegetable soup” and people got very offended for the non-existent vegetarians in my house that might unknowingly eat meat 🤷♀️

My neighborhood is crazy on Halloween. Hundreds of kids. Families roving in packs. Haunted houses, decorations everywhere. It’s amazing.
not sure if it still exists anywhere now but the formerly massive “sea of kids” trick or treating, “how it used to be”, seems almost entirely undocumented. no one was going out at night with flash cameras or whatever you’d need. its documentation today is all tales and media.

Husband had the day off so I made a family breakfast this morning. Scrambled eggs and pancakes. Gave the boys their plates and 7yo looks me dead in the face and says “I didn’t want pancakes I wanted a waffle.”

We found The Little Red Hen and The Wind in the Willows! Also snagged copies of The Time Machine and War of the Worlds that may now be living on my own bookshelf… Mostly we find random kids books my boys look at for quiet reading time and then we take them back 🤷♀️
Has anybody ever, in the entire history of the concept, borrowed a book worth reading from a "Little Free Library" and gone on to read it?
