Family member in the USA is asking me about homeschooling. Any good resources? I’m an international teacher but I don’t know about the homeschool world. 🤷‍♀️ However, I’d like to steer them in a solid direction. Appreciate any help. #education #elementary #elemchat

At our ES parent coffee, our call to action was ✨creating #multilingual libraries✨ at home and to help us create them here in classrooms. Who better than the students and families to share what books resonate with them? I’m so excited to see what comes in! 📚 #wearessis

🌟 #littlewins ES teachers having been using #patternsofpower to inquire into beautiful sentences for a few years. Now, TAs are independently using it to teach host country language. The power of planting seeds. 🌱 #multilingualism @whitney_larocca @writeguyjeff

Little Wins! 🎉 HRTs got familiar with #WIDA #ELDstandards by analyzing the language features in their own teacher mentor text. We can better teach the necessary language structures when we take the time to make it visible.

Feeling genuinely appreciated lifts people up. Being valued and appreciated helps us reinforce a positive sense of self-worth. At the most basic level, it makes us feel safe, which is what frees us to do our best work. #Appreciation #Leadership

An easy, natural way to honor multiple languages…our sketches and illustrations include speech bubbles in the languages we speak. 🤩 #translanguaging

From jeremiah. kim on IG: “Band-Aid lesson! As the school year begins and academic differentiation/supports begin, I find that students start to question why some of their classmates (maybe even themselves) get certain supports and others don’t.”

Self Love Portraits ❤️ Created these in Sketchbook by having pupils take a selfie, add a layer over the top, layer positive words about themselves over the key features before deleting the picture underneath.

📺We watched this short doc in class yesterday. It helped ignite a rich discussion … and a few tears😭. 90% of my Ss said they identified with the kids in the film. https://t.co/vAACVYBGFW #JCPSML #SenecaSoars #Ell2pointO

Multilingual learners flourish when instruction is deliberately infused with language. When every lesson in each content area provides opportunities for students to listen, speak, read, write, and interact, students have greater chances of becoming successful linguistically and

If English learners only feel comfortable talking in small group "pull out" time, we need to question why. What conditions are raising the affective filter in mainstream classrooms? How can we ensure that students-ALL students- feel safe to speak in any classroom? #ESL #MLLS

One of the simplest and most powerful ways to build emotional connections is by sharing positive information with others. To improve being a witness to the good, we must be intentional about positive comments. Better Conversations: https://t.co/BqyfEU92nt

A co-teacher expressed how they want G2 Ss to use more oral language to process & show understanding but feels a barrier is it’s hard to track. Looking for great ideas to suggest.. #EAL #ELL #WIDA #multilingual

Hi, Elementary EAL teacher here, so our EAL team has the privilege of creating a morning with families centered around our EAL program. Just wondering- what has been a really powerful thing you’ve done with families? #EAL #mll #multilingual #WIDA
