Blog Post 🚨 the first paper from my PhD has been featured on the @FunEcology blog! It was such a pleasure writing this with them and I would hugely appreciate if you gave it a read for some #bumblebee / #Chernobyl research and a cheeky bee pun 🐝 @StirUni @StirBES @IapetusDTP.
☢️Sub-lethal radiation dose rates at Chernobyl may have unexpected impacts on the overall ecosystem🐝. 📖Check out this blogpost from @JessicaBurrows where she investigates the potential consequences of radiation on bumblebee feeding and metabolism.

We speculate that #bumblebees may need to feed more to repair damage caused by radiation. An increase in consumption for bumblebees could have important ecological consequences, as they may need to spend more time foraging to collect #nectar to fuel their #metabolism.

Our study set out to simulate current #Chernobyl radiation levels in the laboratory, to investigate the potential consequences of radiation on bumblebee feeding and metabolism.

So unbelievably proud to call @Rosie_Mangan a friend and mentor!.
Today I surprised myself a bit and presented my @StirUni research @RoyEntSoc meeting. Last November, during a research expedition, I suffered a traumatic brain injury. I couldn’t have imagined 11 months down the line I’d be back sharing my research at such an event.
