Biden and the thousands of people working their hearts out every day have done more good and made more change for *all* working people than I could have imagined when I came in. America has been through tough times, but the future is bright. Signing off, back to @JesseCharlesLee.

There are real reasons why coming out of pandemic inflation, Americans aren’t still all sunshine and roses on the economy. But the fact that this is the CNN homepage right now, and this is just typical coverage of the Biden economy, is a major part of it.

This past year has been spent entirely with unemployment near record lows below 4% and huge job growth. You couldn’t blame the American people for not knowing that though, because headlines during that time were overwhelmingly about a speculative “recession” that never happened.
On the occasion of today’s blockbuster jobs report, it’s good to look back on this prediction from almost exactly a year ago.

Almost 14 million jobs in less than 3 years is the greatest stretch of job growth in American history, unemployment under 4% for 20 months is basically unheard-of. That’s #Bidenomics.
Breaking: Hiring accelerated sharply last month as employers added 336,000 jobs, the biggest gain since January. The unemployment rate held steady at 3.8%. https://t.co/MKOMtbptqY

Fact check. @SpeakerMcCarthy: "I wasnt sure it was going to pass. You want to know why? Because the Democrats tried to do everything they can not to let it pass." @margbrennan: "Democrats were the ones who voted for this in a larger number than Republicans."

Biden: Where I come, from when you make a deal, you give your word, you keep it. I expect the Republicans in congress to honor their word, and keep the deal they made months ago when they tried to threaten us to almost international bankruptcy by not paying our debts.

.@POTUS: “Stop playing games. Get it done.”
Last night, Congress passed a spending bill that will keep the government open until just before Thanksgiving. While this is good news, I strongly urge Republicans in Congress to pass a year-long budget agreement and avoid another crisis. Tune in.

Again, a shutdown has real consequences for real people, and that’s not some side effect of what House Republicans are doing—it’s the whole point. Inflict pain on other people until they get their way. Turning around and saying there’s no pain is absurd. https://t.co/u3T42fjnme
Despite what the media says, the vast majority of government remains open during a shutdown. Some of these services include: Social Security, Medicare + Medicaid, veterans’ programs, military operations, USPS, and law enforcement. Don’t always believe what you see on TV!

Even bigger problem was that the bill they voted down was also a shutdown bill, designed to go nowhere & do nothing but give them a blame-shifting fig leaf. IRL it would have been quick, cascading catastrophe. All they have to do: stick by the McCarthy deal 2/3 of them voted for.
