This is an uphill task given that as a country, we only have slightly above 500,000 women-owned registered businesses. We need to encourage as many entrepreneurs as possible to register their businesses, formalise their operations and maintain good records of their transactions.

For instance on land ownership, women only hold less than 10% of registered title deeds which means that it is more difficult for them to access secured credit from financial institutions. Yet, they constitute over 50% of the country’s population.

As a country, we still have significant milestones to cover before we can claim to have fully embraced diversity. Women are still faced with many real and perceptual huddles that have tipped the scales against them and made it more difficult to succeed.
