🚨Announcement!🚨 After 21 years (!!!) I'm leaving USC/ISI. I've grown up — literally and figuratively — at ISI, and I can't put into words what working for the university has meant to me. But it's time for new challenges! As for what's next, challenge #1 is "Take a breath"

What’s so bad about the #kangz isn’t the KANGZ-iness of it all, honestly. It’s that the NBA media kinda treats them like the living embodiment of the “I feel bad for you”/“I don’t think about you at all” meme. No “What Next?” pieces or trade scenarios or whatever. Just 🤷🏻♂️ and 🦗

Landman is literally a Madlib with nothing but scenes where someone [says something threatening to Billy Bob Thornton] and he snarls back "you do that, you just wait...[threatens something worse]" and it's also probably the best TV show in history. I'm not made of wood, man.

I’m a Miami fan — so, well, you know — but BYU is, was, and [until the committee does the right thing this season], always will be FRAWWW DJUUUUU LENTTTTT

Lookong forward to the national discourse — and @benbbaldwin’s Tuesday Graph Bonanza™️ — FINALLY shifting from platitudes about fraudulent Drake Maye to a frank discussion about the next Brady/Tiger/Serena/Shohei in American sport: Bo Chapman Nix.
Great stat from @EliasSports and ESPN Stats and Info: Bo Nix is the first player in NFL history to record 2+ passing TDs and 2+ rushing TDs in one quarter

100%. Maybe not him specifically, but someone in that 16-20. Which is kind of hilariously ironic: If Nix actually was the QB people think he is, the Broncos might be SB favorites.
@JeremyAbramson This might be jumping the gun a bit but i think it’s Jaxson Dart

Hey @pablofindsout I am struggling to get to the bottom of this…the people need to know why TreVeyon Henderson’s name on the back of his jersey is so small???

Given their O-line and defense who’s the *worst* QB that’d make the Broncos Super Bowl favorites? (It’s so weird how objective measures put Nix in the bottom 5 of QBs, yet he’s consistently in that “scrappy, gutty, unflappable game manager” 17-20 range in most media rankings)

Excited to share something for the football analysis community. I’ve created an open-source repository on web scraping football data from popular websites. It’s a central place to learn different scraping methods and understand how data is collected 🧵 🔗 https://t.co/rxagnzLbV3

Texas’ best second order win may now be New Mexico, because New Mexico knocked off Big 10 powerhouse UCLA.

Thread🧵: I've built a tool for shot tagging in hockey. It is very much inspired by An Nguyen's shot-plotter. I built a floorball version mostly for personal use, but figured a hockey version would be interesting to other people as well. https://t.co/lwypy2oMC2

…Tenure Guy®️taught from the same lecture notes for 25 years, as mountains of research whizzed right past his boomer head, and now we’re just assuming everyone — and I mean fucking EVERYONE — is gonna rethink pedagogy/curriculum from the molecular level up? This feels realistic?

Hate to sound like That Guy™️ given, y’know, BUT: Universities are *already* at least 5 years behind adopting these technologies, much less actually integrating them into learning objectives/curriculum (if they EVER will). The value prop is diminishing by the day. Literally.
The serious conversations about pedagogical approaches that harness AI productively rather than making human learning obsolete 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨! How are other educators navigating this?
