This is actress Doreen Sloane who played Annabelle Collins in the soap chatting to me in one of the real houses on Brookside Close. I was chatting to her about her frightening encounter with spooky events on the Wirral where Paul and I then lived.

This photo is of me on the set of Brookside - a soap of which the current show Hollyoaks was a spinoff. Very unusual in that Brookside Close was a real newly built cul de sac in a new estate and people lived in all the other houses around the one lived in by characters on TV.

A decade or so on from Open Door I had great fun writing a book called Phantoms of the Soap Operas in which I visited quite a few sets around the world and told stories of the paranormal from cast members.

We filmed back to back with a group who were promoting 'chickens lib' and they took it seriously as they escaped and started eating the backdrop. Luckily my handbag was similar colour to the backdrop and so was used by the crew to plug the hole! Quite a baptism into the media.

It was all new to me then, I had only done a few chats with Peter Warrington on Piccadilly Radio in Manchester. He is in the photo and with whom I had just started writing 'UFOs: A British Viewpoint' a book that used the term UAP by the way. Took a while to catch on.

I got my college qualifications in media, which was quite unusual that long ago. I had trained to be a teacher but was not allowed to continue for reasons I understood so took this track to earn a living. We got several hundred cases from the couple of million who watched this.

Though some episodes of Open Door from the 70s are on i player this one isn't. It was an innovative TV series when BBC 2 was new. I was 23. Hard to believe.

Another from history. This was actually 1975 on the BBC. My first ever TV appearance on Open Door - a series that let you write and present your own script. This on UFOs. It was the first thing I wrote for the media too. See if you can ID the others on there with me.

Look out soon in Fortean Times for the full story. Btw Ray is not a giant. More Dot and I are quite small!

Another photo from the mid 1980s I think. When Dot Street, Brenda Butler and I were writing about the events in Rendlesham Forest in 1980. We 'gatecrashed' the MoD in London unannounced seeking answers. In the photo with Dot and I is Ray Boeche over from the US for a visit.

Don't often post here now but this photo is a nice memory from around 40 years ago at Jodrell Bank. A group of us raised a big sum for good causes in a TV telethon. Peter and I did talks in the planetarium. Happily they knew we were serious as they had long passed cases on to me.

When eventually males are removed from women & girls sport (& it will happen when there is a Lia Thomas in each sport or a girl gets killed!) every single official in these NGBs who’ve throw women under the bus must loose their jobs! I will highlight every single one of them.

In the UK there have been about 5000 out of 67 million population legally recognised as transsexual for decades. Or just below pre the GRA in 2004. Still under 6000. 1 in 11,000 of the population found in both UK & US. So maybe one in 50 of all 'trans' these days I would think.

You will be happy to know Peter is still going strong also after all these years. I think both of us are older and wiser these days though unsure which of the two we now are by the most.

Colour version of a photo used on the jacket of my first book - one of two written with Peter Warrington. It was taken at a conference in Birmingham back in 1976. I recall that weekend so well. First time I think I met Dr J Allen Hynek. Happily not to be the last.
