Families are routinely barred from saying they have a relative in these court cases & this impacts on journalism too.@CardiffJomec PhD student unpacks the implications & a successful challenge to the ban here, co-written with @KitzingerCelia @CardiffLaw & a mother: Heather Walton.
Heather Walton can be named as the mother of a P in a Court of Protection case. Two days ago I could have been held in contempt of court for saying that: been fined, had my assets seized or even been sent to prison. New blog:.@OpenJusticeCoP .

Interesting to read Mail’s account of this tragic case. Family believe this unconscious woman blinks on request. This was disputed in court by nurses/drs caring for her & ‘second opinion’ experts. Why assert as fact & not report diverse sources?

My new blog: . ‘families are not inevitably the best people to advocate for a patient. But sometimes families are exactly the right people to promote ‘P’s voice’ – and that is the strong sense I got with this family.”. But the judge made a different decision.
