Beautiful day to harvest a large plot corn trial in NC. I love how ag research helps us answer important questions like "is this practice worth the cost?"

When falling number has been low in wheat, seed germination rates could also be low. Both are related to early sprouting like shown here

A 100 bushel soybean crop removes ~320 pounds of N! That N is derived from biological nitrogen fixation and the soil. This is what non-nodulating soybean looks like on sand.

We have A LOT of deer pressure in our @ncsoybeans repellent plots this year. We are collaborating with @SoybeanScience1 researchers across the South at many sites. Here is a video from our farmer cooperator (Steven Smith) at our Bladen County site. Stay tuned for the data!

Bug of the day: Dectes Stem Borer in my soybeans. Not a big problem unless there are a lot of them. There's no good chemical control so crop rotation is really our only defense.

Sad to see this Frogeye leaf spot today. Was grateful to have @CropNetwork's fungicide efficacy table and advice from a great NC State Extension specialist @NCLegumeLady

Is it time to put preventative fungicides on your soybeans? Recommended timing is R3, when the pods on the top 4 nodes are 3/16" to 3/4" long like these (determinate variety)

County Agent and I scouted his soybeans today in Laurinburg, NC. Corn earworm was way over threshold at 11 per 15 sweeps. NC State has a great calculator https://t.co/IYum6dCNEJ

95-day corn looking good. We don't usually plant short day corn in NC. This pollinated before the extreme heat hit, which is nice to see
