Susan Smith parole request rejected

David Smith testified, Susan changed his life forever. “She purposely meant to end their lives” and he says he’s never felt remorse from her.

Current Solicitor for 16th Judicial Circuit SC Kevin Brackett said Susan betrayed her children against the laws of nature when she put those boys in the car and rolled it down the boat ramp. She says she should not be released.

Former 16 Judicial Circuit Solicitor Tommy Pope said when jurors sentenced Susan Smith to life, they expected her to remain in prison for life. “Susan has always focused on what’s best for Susan.”

When asked what the most important thing Susan learned while incarcerated she said she learned about forgiveness and that family is important and not to take people for granted.

Susan Smith testified, “I didn’t lie to get away with it… I didn’t know how to tell David he would never see them again.”

Susan Smith in tears said, “she knows what she did was horrible and if she could go back she would do anything to change it” She said she loved Michael and Alex.

In writings Susan called the act of allowing the car to go down the boat ramp and into the lake with the boys in the backseat in 1994, “ truly an act of insanity’
