$33 billion surplus. No increase in basic allotment. No raises for teachers. No raises for bus drivers. No raises for counselors. No raises for any public ed employees. Our voices must be heard! Continue the fight for #txed. #txlege

Do you know what are REAL emergency items @GovAbbott? With a $32B surplus, you & state legislature have not increased the basic allotment to address 14.5% inflation (so defunding public schools), no raises for teachers, no decent school safety support. #Priorities #txed #txlege

Parents MUST have the freedom to choose the education pathway that best fits their child's learning needs. That's why I made education freedom an emergency item this session. NOW is the time for school choice in Texas.

Something interesting you might not have realized: a number of words in English are nouns when you stress the first syllable but verbs when you stress the second. "Your CONduct is better when you conDUCT yourself appropriately.”

Now is the time, #txed! We're hearing again and again from lawmakers that they need to hear from their constituents about vouchers...so let 'em hear you! Click here and take 20 seconds to stand up for public schools: https://t.co/aGkqZQqVqi #txlege #vOUCHersHurt

Public schools in Texas would have to prominently display the Ten Commandments in every classroom starting next school year under a bill the Senate approved. The Senate also passed a bill that would set prayer and Bible reading times during the school day. https://t.co/U4l8ug72CO

The state’s special education allocation formula has not substantially changed in decades. More money is being spent to serve the number of students identified for special ed due to enrollment increases, not because of an increase in additional funding

Reminder: Vouchers don’t help poor kids. Vouchers help affluent kids already in private schools. This is why a certain political faction wants them. To keep poor kids of color away. Texans believe in equality! We educate ALL kids! Call #txlege today! NO vouchers! #txed

With all due respect, we might suggest Catholics and Baptists to sell some of their tax free property—classical paintings and downtown real estate—to pay for their church schools before they ask Caesar to pay for them. No vouchers in Texas. Ever! @GregAbbott_TX #txed #txlege

Louder for the folks in the back. 📢📢📢 Increasing the state share of school funding without also increasing the Basic Allotment means no new revenue for schools to pay teachers, provide special ed services, transportation, extra-curricular programs, etc. #txed #txlege

Hoping for an increase in the basic allotment that adjusts for 14.5% inflation since 2019 and allows for increased teacher pay for retention/recruitment of educators. @DadePhelan @TomOliverson @SamHarless126 @Jon_RosenthalTX @RepSchofield @LaceyHullTx #NoVouchers #txed #txlege

Don’t forget…TEA also signs $90M+ contract for STAAR testing. That $$$ could be used to pay teachers if TEA would use low-cost, nationally-normed tests like Iowa Standard, PSAT, SAT. No one likes STAAR except the TEA. #txed #txlege
