Software Engineers don't realize that 95% of production outages come from code changes. Twitter has been on a code freeze for almost 3 weeks now which explains how it has stayed up and running with only skeleton crew.

It's very difficult to become a senior web developer without independent learning outside of work. Not saying you need to go home and code every night but most successful seniors engineers at some point in their career spent their free time coding.

Don't define yourself by a framework, library, or coding paradigm. The best engineers are problem solvers first and foremost; Frameworks and libraries are simply tools for solving problems. Aspire to a be great engineer no matter the language.

@Showvhick General hubris of software engineers. "My change is so minor that it can't possible cause an outage" is a sentiment I've seen many, many times but having triaged enough incidents I can say that it's almost always a code/configuration change.

Really proud of the team. We've spent like 30-40 hours refining our interview questions and even dropped two rounds in order to create the best candidate experience. Interviewing will always kinda suck but we're trying to make it suck a little less.

I asked the Google SWE: 👨🏿: Did you know that there is literally a class in Stanford's CS curriculum, that is basically "How to pass Google's Interview?" 👨🏼: Wait... what?! Really? 👨🏿: Yep! They spend the semester practicing. Here's the course details:
