Blood pressure does not always correlate with perfusion. I can’t emphasize this enough. A patient can have a normal blood pressure yet freezing cold extremities, severe skin mottling, and be profoundly malperfused in florid shock. Understanding this concept will literally save

Surprise! I wrote+illustrated a poetry book: "all there is", available now! https://t.co/0u63plwTm9 Very fun project- and a big step for me in embracing vulnerability. The poems were written over years and discuss grief, the beauty of the mundane, and love. Thanks for reading📖❤️

Issues like this cannot be appropriately addressed and resolved without listening to those with LIVED EXPERIENCE. @SCCgov needs to do better in ensuring access and representation for justice-involved women when formulating policy. 6/6

What justice-involved women in Santa clara county are experiencing is unacceptable. Being stripped of your human rights and having no support upon release is inhumane and perpetuates the cycle of poverty and instability. We'll be watching and expecting real change @SCCgov . 5/

Women were told to call every day to see if they an inpt bed and were given an estimate of 6 weeks wait to get a bed; this is all while they are actively unhoused and trying to rehabilitate after incarceration while battling addiction. One passed away while waiting for a bed. 4/

Inpatient criteria for substance use rehabilitation needs to change, and we need more beds period. One speaker described that in all her years of attempting to connect women with inpatient services upon release, only ONE ever met criteria. 3/?

Women were unable to obtain necessary medications upon release. Many women were released at night with no transport and nowhere to go. Some were released as late as 1am. 2/?

Wanted to amplify some shocking stories I heard that are healthcare related for #medtwitter. One woman was chained to a mattress with a male guard watching when she had prenatal checkups. Women had unacceptably limited access to healthcare in general while incarcerated. 1/?

Heard from justice-involved women at the CSW session yesterday; the injustices they experienced during incarceration was heartbreaking and unacceptable. They presented very solvable solutions too. Hoping Santa Clara County @SCCgov will take action.
