Bittersweet stuff. Closing in on our final weeks in Cincinnati. It’s a city I’ve called home for the last decade. Sharon has spent most of her life here.
We’re moving to Charleston, SC. Hard to capture all of what I love about Cincinnati in one post. I’ll miss it so much.
More Derek Dietrich having fun: earns another HBP (from a teammate no less) then uncorks a big fly, and an epic bat flip. There's nobody that had more fun tonight at the
@Reds
150th Birthday Party
I think this is worth revisiting. A lot of things can happen in a game, but this one particular play is what's keeping UC from an undefeated record. Cole Smith drilled a kick, then it was ruled no good because the refs didn't think ESPN was back from commercial. Seriously.
I feel bad for the Bengals not being able to have a week one home game because of the Reds, but really it's the right call. How would downtown ever deal with the traffic from both games?
A VERY interesting byte from Eric Bieniemy today on the attention he's had on the job search front. To me, sounds like a guy ready to make the jump. (Video ctsy

In case you missed it on the 11 o'clock news,
@FightingMuskies
three-game win streak was snapped with tonight's 84-78 loss to Waynesburg. But
@Jam_yung_rell
scored 28 points, becoming the 31st player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. I talked to him after the game.
"This is not a normal backup quarterback signing ... If Andy Dalton had to go and play the season with the Cowboys ... they would be sniffing 9 or 10 wins."

@danorlovsky7
I love Chicago fans thinking they are better than Andy Dalton. He just became one of the five best quarterbacks in Bears history simply by signing with them.
Ever since I interned at
@Local12
when I was at Miami University, I wanted to be a sports anchor at the station. I’ve been doing it in some capacity for the last few years, but now I have OFFICIALLY signed a new deal to officially become the weekend sports anchor at WKRC.
If you don’t think Wes Miller is a good hire because someday North Carolina might come calling that’s literally the dumbest reason to not want to hire someone of all time.
Looking for a great person in our community?

DE
@Carlos_Dunlap
tonight rented out a local spa and treated breast cancer survivors to free spa treatments. Spends time talking to the women, hearing their stories. Remarkable person.
A different signing day for
@CoachFick
. The
@GoBearcatsFB
head coach attending a ceremony in person, his son's
@fickelllandon
, who today signed to play for his old man at UC.
Bengals don't have a coach, Ravens booing their QB of the future, the in-fighting in Pittsburgh reaching a fever pitch.
And then there are the Browns. Model of stability.
Where am I.
Hey just so everyone knows I’ll be leaving Local 12 in a week. This was my decision. I’m grateful for nearly eight years at the place I wanted to work ever since I was in college. I’ll miss my coworkers, SIDs, coaches, athletes so much. It’s been a pleasure.
Admittedly,
@Martin_Miami_HC
didn't know
#Juneteenth
was a holiday until a few weeks ago. Now? it's going to become a part of the
@MiamiOHFootball
schedule. I'm impressed every time I have a chance to talk to coach, more so today than ever. Give a listen.
More from
@CoachSteeleXU
. Saying part of the reason why Xavier couldn't/wouldn't accommodate UC's plan to modify the
#CrosstownShootout
series was because they are in a high major conference
Reds fans when they trade for prospects:
“Here we go. Let’s just kick the can down the road a few more years. So typical.”
Reds fans when they trade for a bona fide rotation staple:
“We traded our top prospect FOR HIM? Why?!”
Can’t win.
REPOSTING: Also asked
@CoachSteeleXU
if we could expect a rebuttal tweet to
@coachbrannen
: "we'll let our play do our talking, the way it has the last twenty years of this series"
It’s been 650 days since fans filled the stands to cheer on the Panthers in historic Elder Stadium.
What are some of your favorite memories of Friday nights in The Pit?
#Altiora
You can't blame Cubs fans for leaving a game early. Most of them have only been following baseball since 2016, that's not a lot of time to learn all of the rules.
So
@Sam_Hubbard_
takes questions from the stands. The first from an adult.
Q: Are you going to hit Ben Roethlisberger this weekend?
A: Hell yeah

@LetsGoBigMoe
1. The A.J. Green injury wasn’t caused by the Welcome Stadium field conditions
2. Welcome Stadium probably shouldn’t have hosted a NFL team.
Two things can be true at the same time.
So
@WyomingSports
en route to the state title last night scored touchdowns on 4th and 13 and 3rd and 21. I asked
@CoachHancock
after the game how much faith he had in his guys to pull those two scores off. His answer is one of the best responses to a question I've ever heard.
Here's the field-level reception for
@CoachBrianKelly
at Nippert this afternoon. There were a smattering of boos, but the UC fan base for the most part showed respect for the accomplishments of Kelly and his 2009 squad.
As expected,
@JaheimThomas454
will stay home and play for the Cincinnati Bearcats. The four-star OLB recruit and the fifth best player in Ohio (according to 247Sports) chose UC over LSU, Michigan, MSU among others.
Luke Fickell continues to recruit his pants off.
