A truly memorable meal with special friends who love wine — each bottle showed really well but the jaw-dropping wine of the night was the 86 Rene Engel Echezeaux —Incredible depth, seductive perfume, and impressive finish! This was my wine of the year!

There were many wonderful wines tonight — from the Corton-Charlemagne to the Charmes-Chambertin and the classics from CA & Australia holding up against the European greats: fabulous Hill of Grace, Ridge Zinfandel and exceptional Occidental Pinot Noir!

The 2005 Guigal La Turque both powerful & intense; and my wine of the night was the sensual, complex, supremely elegant & regal 2016 Mugnier Musigny 😍!

between the two reds, although the Vosne Malconsorts has the superior terroir, the Mortet Gevrey 1er cru showed beautiful intensity, with cascading layers of flavors & a lingering finish (at its perfect peak now)!
The 2 St Aubins were brilliant, crafted by two masters of terroir but Paul Pillot showed greater depth and complexity over the Lamy on this occasion.
