@gailcmurray @ConorWilson No it won’t be offset because more than half of trauma deaths in Ireland are as a result of head injury. Spinal trauma can be dealt with in a neurosurgical centre. Cardiothoracic surgery is needed in very few trauma patients. I’ll send a link to a recent article with data.

Dublin's major trauma centre is due to open next year in the Mater hospital. I'll be speaking to a leading brain surgeons who says that he and every neurosurgeon in the country believe that not co-locating with the major neurosurgery centre will put lives at risk. #rtept
