Infant circumcision never should have become an industry, let alone a billion-dollar one. Senseless genital cutting of healthy children out of perceived religious obligation is bad enough, but senseless genital cutting for profit and parental preference is despicable. Barbaric.

Yesterday the United States withdrew from the World Health Organization (WHO) and I can’t say I’m altogether disappointed. WHO’s insane defense of and promotion of male circumcision is immoral, particularly of infants and children. No study has proven a net benefit. #consent

In German, circumcision is called die Beschneidung (the trimming), like you would prune a plant. 🪴😠 If you cluster the same letters a little differently, you get Diebe Schneidung, or thieves cutting. Because that’s what circumcisers of healthy minors are: thieves for ✡️☪️ or💰

If the AAP and other medical groups emphasize that parental choice to cut or not cut is equally wise and valid… … doesn’t it make sense that not cutting newborns is sound & safe and routine circumcision could be banned to best protect children’s interests and human rights?

Maybe the AAP won’t be able to hold any more Task Farces on infant circumcision, in which they beat the bushes for any shred of legitimacy to chopping up healthy infant penis and stretch common sense to the breaking point. Cringeworthy and craven, all to prop up an indu$$try.

The federal government abruptly cut nearly $12 million in grants to the American Academy of Pediatrics in retaliation for criticizing policies of Health Secretary RFK Jr., the organization alleged in a new lawsuit. https://t.co/SPZ5JPUBsO

I think the weirdest American take on things — and there are many 😂 — is: “Sorry, but not cutting off my newborn son’s foreskin is just too radical an idea for me.”

The Bible never claims it is healthier or wiser to be circumcised. It’s nothing more than a sacrifice of the best part of the penis in obedience to a deity. For thousands of years biblical scholars recognized that as inherently obvious. Today’s health claims are just a retcon.

For half of the USA’s existence, 125 years, the drumbeat has been that a circumcised penis is superior. Yet infant circumcision has never improved health, hygiene, longevity or quality of life. All it has done is make doctors & hospitals richer and sex less complete. It’s a scam.

Could infant circumcision go wrong? It often does (> 10%). Could it go horribly wrong? It often does (> 2%). That adds up to to over 100,000 botched infant circumcisions annually in the USA alone. Why would any parent consent to this? Why would any ethical doctor offer this?

If the US govt really wants to make inroads on addressing autism — which I believe seems more prevalent mainly because of changing definitions and diagnoses — it should impose an emergency health moratorium on infant circumcision. Not this completely specious claim about Tylenol.

Why would any parent go out of their way to see to it that their healthy infant son or daughter has protective sexual tissue surgically removed? The only thing that should motivate a parent to submit their child to surgery is immediate medical need. Otherwise it’s just…

Is it possible to undo the harmful fad of infant male circumcision in the USA. Yes, probably, but big obstacles remain: — widespread subsidies — solicitation by doctors — denial that foreskin is functional or even part of the penis — belief that circumcision is harmless

I think foreskin mystifies a lot of Americans. The opening often looks too small for the glans to pass through. That’s by design! There’s smooth muscle tissue contouring the foreskin and protecting the urethra. Wait! Infant circumcision cuts off muscle tissue & veins? Yeah 👎🏼

“I don’t like being uncut!” So do something about it. “I don’t like being cut!” Little you can do about it. Your parents and the medical profession screwed you over. “I want my son to be cut!” Fuck off. It’s not your body. Parents don’t get to surgically redesign their kids.

That’s exactly the process the leading medical associations say leads to optimal hygiene. Just clean water. Soap is a surfactant and in many cases a detergent. It dries out the mucous membrane tissue and interferes with the healthy biome. It’s worked for millions of years.

Jews, Muslims, Americans, Filipinos and Nigerians mutilate the penis of healthy boys out of superstitious belief that a deity will bless them, or it will make them strong men, or it will ward off disease (spoiler: it doesn’t). Most highly advanced countries consider it barbaric.

Bizarre practices and traditions around the world 🧵 1. In Denmark, if you reach the age of 25 and aren't yet married, you get tied to a chair and pelted with cinnamon.

Well, we might now have the first circumcised pope in history, except of course St Peter (born as Shimon to Jewish parents). Circumcision is not, and never has been, a Christian rite or practice, despite the illusions of some Americans. They just want to justify their sinning.

Americans react like Europe, Latin America and Asia have been slow to get the memo that infant circumcision is good. In reality, most of the world knows that the USA has failed to get the memo that circ is unnecessary, harmful and a violation. The USA can do much better.

We know now that the original Hebrew circumcision concerned cutting off the infant acroposthion; not tearing and cutting the posthe. It was attempts at foreskin restoration by young Jewish men, offensive to the rabbinate, that led to instructions to make infant circ more severe.

They weren’t afraid to know the penis in detail, state what the several parts are and why we have them/what they do, and see the beauty of the whole. We have reduced the penis to a stick figure and the butt of jokes because we are too puerile to look at male anatomy objectively.
