I do think that we need to be careful about how we pray and talk about our leaders, especially as it relates to speaking confidently about God's will. My latest for @TheAtlantic https://t.co/Wo9UBKe9y2

Eric Metaxas and other conservatives have likened today's political climate to Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s fight against Nazis, prompting criticism from Bonhoeffer scholars and descendants who urge them to stop these comparisons. https://t.co/E0MKaJgvt8

Family members of the theologian worry conservatives will use a new Bonhoeffer movie to promote Christian nationalism and political violence.

Hypermasculinity is the rotten fruit of disowned shame. Behind the mask of grandiosity, a little boy, hidden and desperate. We settle for caricatures of these men, but I’m always moved in therapy sessions when the maskless little boy emerges in tears, longing for love.

The question is what it has always been- fit or unfit. And the answer was obvious all along. Character matters, still.

What is joy? Where can we find it? And if we were to manage it, would our lives be free from sorrow? Today, @MiroslavVolf and @AngelaGorrell tell stories to discuss the nature of joy, and why, even in the midst of immense pain and suffering, joy and sorrow are not opposites.
