I’m all for holding an organization accountable, but what an article full of hot garbage here.

@JaredCP1 How so? Drafting a prep catcher top 10 and two more prep RHPs top 100 is the riskiest posisble option with the highest fail rates. Since 2008 we have 1 prep pitcher drafted who has ever made a start: Junis. Prep catchers even worse track record

@e__0617 I do agree that the draft was high risk/high reward. And it wasn’t my favorite draft, but I think calling the draft a failure one day after it happened is a bit much. Asa Lacy and Gavin Cross were also “safe bets” as college picks. I don’t think it’s a matter of college vs high…

@RallyCapsMLB 1. I struggle with the fact says the article is a failure only because they drafted high school players and because one was a catcher. There is no critique of the players actual skill set which means there is just a lack of reasoning why it should be considered a failure outside…

@JaredCP1 Jared I agree with you. Other than Alex Gordon name a college position player that has impacted the Royals in the last 20 yrs; HS - Butler, Hosmer, Moustakas, Myers (used in trade) plus Salvy. Starting pitchers - Greinke, Duffy plus Ventura

@jerrydmullen Yeah, so much more goes into a draft than just he played in high school vs he played in college. That’s where I struggle with the article. It’s basically saying it’s a failed draft only because high school players were taken and one is a catcher.

@JaredCP1 This is the funniest thing I've read all week. So the Royals could actually develop three high school players and turn them into stars, but it would've been bad process all along because you can't take high school catchers in the first and high school pitchers early. Come on!

@whoeferbaseball Ha! This was my exact issue with the article. There was ZERO critique on the actual players. Just that one caught and both were high school players. Lesson learned I guess is to never draft high school players with upside.

@JaredCP1 They may have went a little overboard, but not much. This organization has sucked at drafting and developing for years.
