I have learned several ways of self-care. I do four intense one-hour workouts a week, eat a healthy gluten free diet, do not drink any alcohol and minimal to no caffeine, and I see a therapist regularly. You can find what works for you and a pathway to heal.

With my veterans advocacy, I regularly hear devastating stories about their experiences. Some of the stories are personally triggering, as they bring up memories of my own.

Today on World Mental Health Day, we recognize that there is no health without mental health. We need to support one another and keep talking about mental health.

Our community gathered for the 6th annual tribute to those we lost from domestic violence. Tonight’s theme was Bold Voices, encouraging men to speak out when they see abusive behavior. Together we can end domestic abuse. #mariasvoice #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth

As a city council member I am proud of our PD’s DARE program and glad we could host officers from WI, MN, ND, and even Oregon in this DARE cohort.

My friend Gina graduated from Minnesota DARE officer school today! When I was a kid, the county sheriff’s deputy did DARE at my rural school where my mom was the principal. I have fond memories from that time in my life.

Day two of our priorities series. Today's post is on developing economic security.

You can learn a lot about me from my coffee mugs (decaf only). One of my lady vet besties gave me this Rosie the Riveter mug. Rosie highlights the strength of women during a dire time in history. The red lipstick residue is from the shade I wear which is called Groundbreaker.

One of my campaign pillars is economic security. There are many ways to achieve that goal. Fostering an environment where manufacturing, industry, & commerce can thrive means good jobs for our residents and fulfilling work to help them reach their dreams & support their families.

I joined I94 West Chamber on their Cool Jobs tour today. We visited 3 manufacturing facilities in the NW metro. My prior career was global manufacturing so there’s something a bit familiar about being inside a facility like this no matter what product is being fabricated or where

Families are struggling to maintain a middle-class life, like the one Kristy was raised in. Families are pressed from all sides, whether from the costs of housing, education, transportation, healthcare, or food. We have to do more to ensure life is affordable for Minnesotans.

My work in the veterans community means so much as I have found amazing partners and friends in this work to care for veterans and their families. Let’s keep pressing on.

Today was very emotional to me as I received the Spotlight A Soldier award at the Bill’s Wish Rise and Remember event. The event was to commemorate veterans who have died by suicide.

As a state senator, I plan to work on efforts to ensure women service members have long and productive careers maximizing their full potential in the Minnesota National Guard without enduring MST.

For my day job, I have leaned into doing VA disability claims for women vets who experienced military sexual trauma.

I attended part of a women veterans conference earlier today at Magnus Veterans Foundation. I am always thrilled when I see women vets learning about their benefits and accessing them.
