Gamechanging funding for a gamechanging project - I’m excited about the work that is to come to improve #kidneytransplant waitlisting for First Nations Australians under the leadership of @Keliyari13 and this very special group of experts 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
"Having the Patient Navigators on the research team was an absolute must" says @Keliyari13 on her #MRFF #IndigenousHealthResearch grant This patient / Navigator / community-led project is an incredible milestone for #KidneyHealth run through @sahmriAU

AKction is a research project based at @UniofAdelaide. It all started in 2019 from a conversation between Nari and Inawintji, Aboriginal women who are advocates with lived experience of CKD #AKctioninAction

The relationship between COVID and heart disease is strong and clear yet here in Central Australia when someone with acute COVID dies of a heart attack the system is unable to recognise it is a death due to COVID. Unfortunately, this link is real

Nature - Massive study shows a long-term, substantial rise in risk of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke, after a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Countries which tolerated high transmission rates saw a rise in both COVID specific AND all cause mortality. Australia should start publicly reporting on all cause mortality and not only COVID. When hospitals start cancelling urgent treatments people die of other causes as well
This open letter, signed by more than 100 public health experts, researchers, and healthcare workers, issues an urgent call for global “vaccines-plus” action against covid-19 https://t.co/uc8Dsx4Lay

Your triple dose vaccine is pretty good for protection against severe omicron. However when the hospitals are overwhelmed, as most likely they will be, have you got a plan for the car accident or heart attack or stroke or cancer you might suffer? Broken hospitals are dangerous.

Theres been a 25% increase in the last yr of judges not giving bail to black ppl. For kids, it’s much worse. 87% are in custody on remand & we have no national data on WHY kids are in prison! 14/16
