The learnings taken from Bath are truly priceless, and they'll stay with me for the rest of my life. I did this for you, Mum, to show you what kind of son you raised. I do hope you're proud. Thank you to EVERYONE that showed support 🙏🏻 I am truly grateful.

But I do trail ultras to understand what my mind is capable of when my back is truly against the wall, and to gain some self-belief. Yes, I fight pain with humor, but it's still pain.

(Massive 3,425 ft elevation gain) knowing full well my feet could barely lift off the floor due to a niggling issue with my going around my enough left Quadricep muscle, and the chafing that tore into my right thigh. (But happy with possibly new war wounds)

Those last 12 miles weren't racing; they were purely attrition. It's difficult to describe just how disheartening it is when you see slope after slope, hill after hill,

I have never in my life been at the edge of my limits for so long. I still have no idea how my body got through after the 18-mile mark.

Bath Ultra should be called the soul taker of hills, because it truly wanted to claim mine. When it's like this, you know you can't leave anything on the table. I gave my heart, and nearly my soul, to Bath.

My body wanted to gave up several times, but my mind never did. For that, I finished my first ever Ultra and placed in the top 90 in men's. Not bad for my second attempt at Ultras.

But I found a way. Not because I'm fit, strong, or capable, but because I simply refused to stop putting one foot in front of the other, so I could see what might happen next.

The Bath Ultra took every loving memory, every ounce of pain I'd ever experienced, and on multiple occasions, my body told me I had reached my limit.

I took my legs out for a test run, and all went well and felt good. The Bath Ultra is locked in! 🔒 Always a pleasure, never a chore. 🫡 Wearing Hydra ESC @vivobarefoot JBEARD20 #vivobarefoot #UltraMarathonTraining #UltraChallenge #ultrarunning

But, it has been confirmed that it's looking good to go! I'm just going to keep it simple until my run, focusing on mobility and some short, easy runs to keep the legs fresh, and most likely adding in some cycling as well.

Program: Run Strong. Challenge: Barth Ultra, The Road to the Jurassic coast Ultra. (Again) Bonjour! Mate, it's been a while since my last run. 😅 I had a minor leg issue and have been keeping my head down, trying not to overstress my leg until it was examined.

It's the territory where the boundaries of conventional logic dissolve, where ultimately, is about enduring pain for longer.

It's where logic yields to relentless drive, relentless focus, and perhaps, a touch of the irrational.

But pushing to 100% unlocks an exponential return, a potential 1,000% gain. That final 20% is where the transformative power resides. It demands a rare confluence: a blend of unwavering conviction, forged in delusion, obsession, and the scars of the past.

There's a threshold in any endeavor. An 80% effort yields commensurate results.

Because until we're stripped bare, relying solely on our inner reserves, we never truly know the depths of our strength. We never really know who we are or what we are capable of until we only have ourselves to rely on. #Ultra #disciplineequalsfreedom #Ultrarunning #run
