The new laws passed or considered in AR, KS, ID, MS, etc., leave it up to the level of the famous professors and screenplay writers of the McCarthy era to volunteer to teach accurate history about race in our past, even though R-wing students may record the class, post [cont.]

[p.2] seek true history & social justice. People doing research on sundown towns will find fabulous resources. The same for people trying to critique our still-nationalist textbooks. Or those questioning Conf. monuments. Thank you! justice@tougaloo.edu

Yes, we have to FACE that we as a nation have been racist most (not all) of the time. Then can we understand (and work for) justice in the present. Here's a solid WaPo article that makes this point.

They say that’s too negative a rendering of a moment that is well documented in books, film and photography.

And here is a terrific article showing how a major university (U C Berkeley) in its everyday workings was racist not just before the Civil Rights Movement, but in some ways to the present.

For most of its history, the University of California has been a bastion of un-critical race theory from Manifest Destiny to The Bell Curve.

A VA judge has done exactly the right thing re the Conf. statue outside his courthouse, right historically, and right in terms of justice. His logic and history are not rebuttable. This is a key precedent for Conf. monuments everywhere.

A Roanoke County judge last week ordered the Confederate statue near the Roanoke County Courthouse moved — or the courthouse moved.

How can TX suggest that there are two sides to teaching about white supremacy? White supremacy is bad history, because racism is historical, not innate. We need to teach it that way.
