https://t.co/NvKT9FoRfe Ever wonder how the AI director in Left 4 Dead 2 experiences the game? I'm building a framework on how to improve on director AI to better understand it. #research #PhD #valve #left4dead2 @ioct_dmu @Midlands4Cities

Atmosphere, often used in horror, may seem like simple sustained tones. But when I create them, I focus on height, depth, temperature, scent, and most importantly, an organic, living spirit. While different from typical musical construction, I put great care into crafting them.

Whenever I listen to this sound, I think it has a great atmosphere as James' hopeless world.

Interesting talking point, I don't necessarily sit on either side of this fence, but it's a good read.

Listening to music with haptics is a truly wonderful experience, and really helps you appreciate the music in a totally new way. If you closed your eyes you could be at a gig with the right track.

#gamedevs , what would be your preferred engine and language to learn? I’ve been flipping between #unity and #unrealengine and feel it’s time to commit to one or the other. I realise cpp is an industry standard. If you work professionally, which do you use?

Hi all! Some huge findings going on with my Python data interpretation for my research, will be posting tomorrow to my blog. In the meantime, contemplating a handle change to reflect my game research, as opposed to arts. Thoughts?

This week I have mostly been learning Python for data interpretation, and it has been really useful. Cannot recommend @anacondainc enough.

Hot take - the people who lose their minds at the crossover characters in Fortnite clearly don't follow fighting games. From Yoda to Geralt, to T1000, there's been some brilliant stuff for years!

Starting some development on some systems that I would love to see in games, that has been spurred on by my research. It's fun to think what hasn't been achieved just yet...

Isn't it interesting how few games give morality options on a scale rather than just a binary good/bad dynamic? It makes the exploration of your characters motives very obvious and with little ambiguity.

There's nothing quite like the feeling when something finally clicks in your research. I have more exciting stuff coming, watch this space.
