Rubisco limits plant CO₂ fixation. Lu et al. engineered Arabidopsis with a synthetic McG cycle, turning a Rubisco by-product into acetyl-CoA. Result: more lipids, seeds & biomass—a proof-of-concept to boost carbon fixation by creating a synthetic “C2” plant.
