5. Gain Inspiration Research the best wildlife photographers & seek inspiration from them. Attempt & learn different styles. Remember, creativity doesn’t exist without inspiration.

4. Study Behaviour If you can learn your animal behavior, you can plan your shots well. Anticipating their expressions & movements can put you in a unique position for creative shots.

3. Requires Patience: We don’t have any control of our subjects, so we have to be patient. We are in their homes, so we have to respect them by waiting for them to appear. If you’re not patient, you’ll be disappointed. (But it could make you patient if you give it a try)

2. Gear Matters: Gear is important, but only if you know how to use it. Invest into the right lens (length of minimum 400mm). Learn your camera well so that it can be used to capture what you intend. Wildlife is unpredictable, & you always want to be ready to capture it.

1. Start Small: You can start practicing with something within your area. Maybe birds in your park? Insects? Or any wildlife park? You can even start with dogs & cats!

Hot take for wildlife photographers: It's always responsible to clarify if a photo was taken at a zoo. Because everyone would assume it’s taken in the wild; which sets unrealistic expectations. 🙌🏼

5. Let Creativity Kick In: Once you have practiced enough, your mind will take over the technicality. The camera settings & fundamentals become second nature, and that’s when you can start to get creative. Seek inspiration from your favorite photographers. Try to replicate

4. Learn Other Photography Fundamentals: Learn & apply the typical fundamentals of good photography: composition, lighting, white balance, angles, subject study, etc. Remember: Almost all theory stuff can be learned on YouTube, but you’d only naturally get better if you applied
