Yearly rant…coaches it is very important to remember why we do what we do, it isn’t for money and it isn’t for fame, winning is nice but at the end of the day the lessons we teach and how we DEVELOP these kids through sports is far more important than anything….

Last time my school won state we didn’t even get top 3 in district or regionals but we had the same guys advance every week while other schools slowly lost athletes each week….survive and advance.
HS track and the mindset fascinates me. the goal really until state is just advance. you really dont get much of an edge by winning district, area or regional. I guess a better lane assignment but you can finish 2nd in every meet until state and be a state champ.

There is a lot of BS that comes with coaching/teaching, politics, long hours, poor pay, etc….but knowing you are changing kids lives makes it all worth it.
