As a disabled passenger, to get a WCHC status on my ticket, I was put through the bureaucratic, broken process which went in circles with Air India. They made me run to their offices, fill 10+ page forms and get them signed by my Doctors. As a PwD their process is unacceptable.

I cancelled the trip. Because if this is how @airindia treats disabled passengers pre-flight, what can I expect at the airport?.Flying shouldn’t be this hard. Not when all I asked for was a seat—and the dignity to get to it. #DisabledTravel #Accessibility #AirIndia.

Aug 1: They email again, asking for everything from scratch. Same docs, same forms, same request. It’s been 6 weeks. This is the system we’re expected to navigate—just to fly.

For over a month, we:.📨 Send reminders.📍 Reattach documents.📞 Make calls.✈️ Just to get a simple WCHC status that most airlines approve in 1 step.

Then they ask for an “updated disability certificate.”.I explain:.📍Mine is disability & certificate is lifelong.📍100% disability, no reassessment required.📍Fit-to-fly is already included.They clearly aren’t reading any documents.

We try visiting the AI office at Safdarjung. They tell us:.“No MEDIF needed if it’s just wheelchair assistance.”.But they won’t give this in writing. 2 days later:.“Please carry MEDIF to check-in.”.💥Contradictions galore.

We ask: what if I’m stopped at the airport because you didn’t approve my documents?.Their reply?.“We’ll approve it at the airport.”.Imagine flying not knowing if your medical clearance is done. While using a wheelchair. In India.

June 23: We reopen the ticket. Ask for:.✅ WCHC confirmation.✅ MEDIF approval.✅ FREMEC issuance.They respond days later, say WCHC is done. Nothing about MEDIF. Still say talk to “ground staff” about FREMEC.
