Studios would need to hire AND TRAIN hundreds of animators to create 2D animated movies again. The college pipeline for these animators doesn’t exist anymore. Once Studio Ghibli and Cartoon Saloon close their doors, 2D animation will be gone forever.
I don't see how it wouldn't be easier to get that look of golden era 2D animation by. um. just animating 2D.
