This is after a sinkhole was identified this morning.
This material will help us make travel safe for essential services, it will be distributed to taxi ranks, bus depots and intermodal facilities

I have arrived at the N3 Heidelberg Weigh bridge where His Excellency, the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, joined by the Minister of Transport Mr. Fikile Mbalula will officially launch the October Transport Month campaign and the revamped Arrive Alive programme.

SINKHOLE DEVELOPING
The 4 meter Snake Road sinkhole in Benoni is developing further. The road is closed between Golden Drive and Pioneer Road. Road users are urged to use Tom Jones offramp towards Heidelberg.
Be extra cautious when driving in the area.

Today, I am partnering with the two major provincial minibus taxi associations, the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) and National Taxi Alliance (NTA) to launch Hlokomela – Ndlelanhle, the province’s Road Safety Campaign, in Grasmere Toll Plaza, South of Johannesburg
I will tomorrow brief the media on the latest developments regarding the Snake Road sinkhole that developed along the route in Benoni, City of Ekurhuleni.
I will be joined by a team of geotechnical experts who have been investigating remedial repair methodologies to the road.
Together with the Quality Assurance team we visited warehouses to check on the systems in the warehouses and stock levels of various items.

I am currently appearing before the Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence. This as the commission commences with hearings into violence in the sector.
We have won a precedent-setting judgement in the North Gauteng High Court in connection with the violence in Mamelodi. This judgement helps us deal with those who stoke the fires of violence in the taxi industry in our province
I am set to visit the Marabastad and Bloed taxi rank facilities in Tshwane on Monday, 18 November 2019.
The visit is a continuation of a programme to assess the state of various rank facilities for possible interventions to improve conditions and also to explore opportunities.
