Not to say you can't play Elise - it would slot right in here - but you don't need to. Just an idea: if you're running Naralex, you can think about dropping Opu for Briarspawn Drake

I wonder how large the overlap is between players who disliked high inevitability decks Asteroid Shaman or Protoss Mage and those who dislike KJ.

What it is is a not-too-good tech card that drives some players up the wall because (a) it counters them specifically, as tech cards sometimes do, or (b) it punishes them for playing slowly, greedily, or poorly when they don't think they're doing that.

I've heard it said it breaks some "core" mechanic of the game, which doesn't make sense to me. Not anymore than Renathal, New Heights, or Arcane Intellect "break" mechanics of starting/max life total & deck size, total & per turn mana crystals, or how many cards a turn you draw.

And it's not a tech card "control" decks need to play either. All the red X decks don't play it. You absolutely don't need to play it even if you go long. Of the ones that do play KJ, it's predominantly Starship DK with some rare and unusual other builds floating around.

It's also not particularly powerful, in any general sense of the word. In fact, it's usually quite weak. It's only real use case is fighting against attrition styles of decks. In other words, it's a tech card and not ruining many games of Hearthstone with its OPness.

Since the topic of the day was KJ, let's consider some additional KJ facts and KJ-related facts. Let's start with the first: Whether we are talking Diamond-Legend or Bronze-Gold, it's only in about 10% of decks (and probably should be in fewer, but players seem to like using it)

This is a common thread I see running across many posts:. “I believe I am using my resources better than my opponent who shows no strategy and just plays their stuff. They should be punished severely for just playing their stuff.”

I mentioned this when I saw the pets and it would be another reason I wouldn’t use it even if I had it. Literal time waster.

The first part probably isn’t true and the second part probably wouldn’t make the game more fun were it true. No one describes their idea game state as one where they run out of stuff and the opponent doesn’t. They always want the reverse. But you are your opponents opponent.

For those interested in the interview and the idea of swimming with bricks, check out my interview on Bread and Butter:.

One of the more delusional posts this week. When I talked about trying to swim with a sack of bricks in that interview I did, this is exactly what I was referring to. These players are making themselves have a bad time.

And on queue I found yet another post in this very same vein. I want you to read these words as if the person writing them is self-inflicting their own bad time.
