Ayton isn’t a player who disrupts a team’s culture anymore, especially with a strong coach. He performs or his role diminishes. He found that out in Portland.
Pacers dodged Deandre Ayton bullet once before. Think they’ve done it again. Culture is still a thing, and he ain’t it. Desperation makes you do stupid things, best to stay the course.

This is a GREAT take!!! I'm pi$$ed I didn't think of it. #pacers. The #bucks are paying close to $50M per year for Turner, to have the backcourt of Kevin Porter and Gary Trent. @WindhorstESPN @JakeLFischer. @PacersJJ @IndyCornrows @PacersPodSTP.
@JWReamer @JakeLFischer @WindhorstESPN Milwaukee is paying him basically 50M a year once you include Dame Time $$$.

It seems like one source is feeding the national talking heads the #pacers didn’t offer more than $20M per to Turner. @JakeLFischer @WindhorstESPN etc. However, local reporting refutes that.

We’re just going to act like this wasn’t discussed and dismissed as disastrous on various podcasts. Their roster is a hot mess, just instead of Dame it’s Turner + $22.3M in dead money. The dead money will outlast Giannis and Turner’s tenure as Bucks.
The Bucks found a creative path to waive and stretch Lillard – whose $113M will be stretched over the next five seasons – while leaving their future draft assets untouched. In a stunning turn of events, Myles Turner departs the Pacers to join the Bucks.

He got the Beasley money.
Free agent shooter Duncan Robinson has agreed to a three-year, $48 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, sources tell ESPN. Agent Jason Glushon navigated multiple options in the market, which included potential return to Miami or move elsewhere. Now Robinson lands in Detroit.

I have wavered on Turner’s value. I’m an asset guy, which the Pacers fumbled, but the decision is more than just the tax, it’s how good he will be in 2027. My guess is a noticeable drop.
@JMV1070 You have to brace yourself that he won't be a Pacer next year.

He pulled $3M less than his cap hold in the prime of his career.
Give Austin Brown, Turner's agent, a ton of credit for creating this type of value in one of the most scarce free agent environments. The only team with cap space to sign Turner outright was Brooklyn. Turner lands a monster contract and Milwaukee gets an All-Defensive center to.

Until/unless the #pacers sign Turner, they are operating as a team under the 1st apron. $28M+ puts IND into the 1st apron. Can’t aggregate salaries going out above 1st apron. IND could be working a deal that requires aggregation, so perhaps kind of a big deal.
No peep on Turner, which makes me think they can’t fully agree on terms. Doesn’t mean they’re far apart. It could also mean there is something going on w/ the #pacers where delaying the signing of MT helps a potential deal, and possibly more $ for MT.
