An interesting question: is this the reason only the shields are missing when the rest of the brass is in remarkably good nick? Discussed here in great article by Jonathan Moor in MBS transactions 2010 Part 2 (pp 119-131) https://t.co/3zoMSgYX1D

late 15th century glass at St Mary’s, Shrewsbury A donor figure kneels in front of St Peter, who hold an especially large key. He also sports a papal tiara. What going on with his hands though? Are those rings? Formerly at Trier Cathedral and installed here in 19th century

striking terracotta panels in the churchyard at St John’s, Eastnor. Female representations of the Reaper & the Sower dating from c.1900 & by Isabella Somerset, aka Lady Henry Somerset. Known as a temperance leader & women’s rights campaigner, she was also (clearly) an artist

well the ceiling may in fact incorporate the plaster vault from the original 1813 scheme (by Francis Bernasconi), but still it’s a room not marred by later additions, which seems so common a problem with his work

unadulterated Pugin at Eastnor Castle, Herefordshire. Painted fan vaulting & absolutely enormous chandelier (made by Hardman of Birmingham). An especially good carved gothic fireplace with Minton tiles too 1849-50, executed by JG Crace

some exceptional details, such as the figures squeezed in (in profile) at the sides of the buttresses. Tight fit

the extraordinary Thornton brass at Newcastle Cathedral one of the largest medieval brasses in the country & surely one of the most elaborate too 80+ figures as well as the main two, Roger (d.1429) & his wife Agnes (d.1411) (previously at All Saints &moved when church rebuilt)
