Congrats @NVStateParks on the new Valley of Fire State Park Visitor Center. It was an honor to participate with my wife Becky Hall in making an exhibit on the dinosaur we named from the park, Nevadadromeus and bringing the Dino home. #homemeansnevada

These two little bones so far are the only direct evidence these animals were in Nevada. The recent news is an interesting genetics experiment but not quite yet a dire wolf.

With the excitement over the “resurrection” of dire wolves (Aenocyon dirus) I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane. A decade ago we reported the 1st bone of these animals from Nevada from Ice Age Fossils State Park. Eric Scott soon reported another.

#WorldFrogDay! Nevada's first known frog is Eorubeta nevadensis. 1st found in drill cores from Railroad Valley. These frogs are found in rocks which span the end Cretaceous extinction and may be the first documented survivor of the meteor impact. https://t.co/Di57DC96wo

@nevadamuseumcc stores fossils from public lands. Pic here are sloth coprolites from Gypsum Cave. Giant ground sloths lived in North America, 12 million-10,000 yo. From the dung we can tell some of their favorite snacks were yucca flowers and globe mallow Hours: Tue-Sun 8:30-4:30
