7on7 is not real football. Don’t take stock in wins and losses.
WR’s you should be working on releases and recognizing when you’re vs. man/zone. Read safeties. DB’s should be working on man coverage/divider rules. QB’s and LB’s just go have fun or it’s a waste of your time.

Last 7’s comment I have for a while: If you are a HC in Arizona you need to send a coach from your program with your kids to these 7’s tournaments. Some of them are showing up without any coach supervision and making you, your program and your school look bad

Pretty cool coaching ‘full circle’ moment for me last night. Coach Carlin was my Track/Football coach in High School 10 years ago at Basha and now we get to run into each other in new places. I’m 28 and still feel obligated to call him Coach lol.

Reminder to Parents/Students: Coaching takes time. Every hour spent with your kids is time away from mine. While I absolutely love doing it, these breaks are cherished!

As a track coach, I used to think 7on7 was the bane of my existence but I was SO wrong… it’s club soccer. These club coaches have kid’s practicing till 10pm every night then playing 6 games on the weekend. No wonder they’re burnt out smh🤦🏻♂️ I’d quit too!

Wow! This is the perfect example of the beauty and necessity of competition. 10 guys under 11.5 doesn’t just happen. ‘Running Track’ doesn’t automatically make you faster. Iron sharpening iron and pushing the people around you makes everyone better. Good stuff DE!!
The depth of the sprinters at Desert Edge is impressive. A total of 10 athletes under 11.50 in the 100 meters for this season. Could even have five, maybe six athletes dip under 11 seconds this spring.

For some perspective, two years ago we qualified 6 kids for state and 1 took a nap under the stands during his event so really… 5.

My take on the transfer portal in AZ: 1st transfer is free without penalty, 2nd transfer you can reevaluate and create a penalty that fits. These kids have 4 years to play the sport they love then for most of them it’s over. Let them play where they want with who they want

No kid transfers from a school where they feel valued and respected by the coaches. Some still might, but not many. And those that still go will only go if they really feel like another place will give them a better opportunity to be successful.
