Exactly—and it’s bigger than just one “superhub.” What’s happening in 2nd Ward and Magnolia Park is the continuation of an old Houston pattern: when the City wants to “clean up” Downtown or Midtown for investors and tourists, it pushes people it doesn’t want to see further east.
Why are 2nd Ward & Magnolia Park being asked to bear the brunt of Downtown's social problems?

I signed up to speak on this but wasn't on the list for some reason even after reaching out. I'll be back next week to discuss. @AbbieKamin please do everything you can to help this family. Houston must protect its immigrant and autistic communities.
We were promised public safety and the prosecution of criminals. HPD is kidnapping young boys with Autism and turning them over to ICE custody instead of issuing amber alerts. I don't recognize this city anymore.

HPD called ICE 107 times since Trump took office — mostly after traffic stops — as policy on administrative warrants fuels fear among immigrants.

This is the worst article I've read on all of the things HPD has done in collaboration with ICE. This is not the type of police work worthy of $1B raises. This is not the type of article that should have a "no comment" from the top brass. Who are we becoming as a people?
